Shannon McElvany, Certified Yoga Instructor
Shannon is certified in Sanga Yoga. Sanga Yoga is designed to "bring the body back to its natural state, where the mind is calm and the body is toned" (yogashelter.com). She completed her yoga teacher training in 2004 and has been teaching ever since. Shannon has gained her own personal insight into the benefits of yoga through her own practice. She has been practicing yoga regularly for 11 years. By practicing at different studios, Shannon keeps herself open to new ideas and methods for teaching. Shannon is very knowledgeable about the different affects the asanas have on the body, and she has relied on her yoga practice to help her become more relaxed and more compassionate towards herself and others. She attributes her increase in physical and mental strength directly to yoga. As an instructor, Shannon works to bring this same mental and physical strength to her students so that, in turn, their lives will be balanced and secure. She teaches from a place of authenticity and invites her students to come as they are, wherever that may be.
